How it all began
Bakker Metal Fabrication began as Bakker Welding and Mechanics in May of 2007. Sid, the business owner grew up in the Netherlands and had his welding training there with specialized training in agricultural equipment and heavy equipment. After a trip with friends in 1998 to America, he had the itch to come here. It was not until 2003 that he actually moved here; the business potential and the American economy lured him. Working on the farm and his continued learning in agriculture equipment was his focus until 2007 when he decided to start his own business (as he had done briefly in the Netherlands). One of the first business purchases was a welder, welding helmet and cylinder gases; working in the 3rd stall garage of his home. It has been steady growth since then. The name: Bakker Welding and Mechanics was changed to Bakker Metal Fabrication to better capture the fabrication side of the business. The growth has lead the company into our current Coopersville location where we use 30,000 sq. feet.
